iTunes U was added to the Apple iTunes Store in the spring of 2007. The area was created to manage and distribute free educational audio and video content for students within a university setting. Over the years, the popularity has grown and two new areas have been added: K-12 and Beyond Campus. Materials found on iTunes U include lectures, campus tours, and even entire course curriculum. With the addition of K-12 and Beyond Campus, iTunes U is able to provide more content for the K-12 communinty and the educational community in general.
