Meet, touch, and explore this innovative 21st Century Technology!  Participants will learn how to use the iPad as a classroom tool for creating, consuming, communicating and collaborating across the grade levels and subjects. The class will explore iTunes, including how to find and subscribe to podcasts, video podcasts and educational games and apps, as well as syncing these resources with the iPad and basic set up and performance optimization of the iPad.  Participants will receive a 16GB WiFi iPad (choose iPad 2 or iPad 3 at checkout), case, and a $25 iTunes gift card.

I See Data Graphic Infographics in the Classroom

QR Code A Picture will Save you a Thousand Clicks

With advancements to mobile computing QR, or Quick Response, codes are booming. QR codes are 3-D barcodes which hold small amounts of information. QR codes typically hold web addresses or text messages and transfer data with a snap. Using the camera found on your iPod, phone, or webcam teachers no longer have to wait as students peck web addresses or lose their homework assignment. In this class you will learn how to create, post, and use QR codes to transfer data and create fun activities such as treasure hunts and storytelling. In addition we will integrate QR codes with Google Sites for customized learning experiences.

Learning for the Digital Age is a professional development initiative for Ohio's K-12 administrators and teachers that explores the role of technology in supporting critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication — the skills students need to be effective in today's classroom and tomorrow's workplace. This statewide collaboration of Ohio's Educational Technology Agencies, Educational Television Stations, and eTech Ohio provides high-quality interactive training for educators to help students use technology to master these essential skills for success throughout life. This class is FREE to all ITSCO Basic, Advantage and Premium Members!


Online & Blended Learning Classes

 
Go Gaga For Google Apps
$200 Advantage & Premium, $250 Basic
Online Classs: 4/9 - 5/20
In this six week, online class, participants will get a conceptual overview of Google Applications specifically Docs, Forms and Sites and how they can be harnessed for educational potential. Schools that model effective use of Google Applications will be showcased and participants will learn through hands on activities about how to create their own effective lessons using these powerful and free tools. Additional topics covered in the modules will include creating a Google Site and embedding other Google tools such as Docs, Forms, Translate and Calendar and best practices for engaging website design. Even after the modules have been completed, participants will benefit from an ongoing learning community of other educators using Google Applications in an educational setting.  Participants must have email capability and access to the Internet.  15 contact hours will be awarded upon the completion of the course.  One semester hour of graduate credit through Ashland University is available for an additional fee of $175.  Participants may work through each weekly module at their own pace, but must complete all course work by 5/20.

Beyond the Basic Use your SMART Board Today

SMART Boards are great classroom tools! Are you ready to build some classroom activities and games while discovering the Notebook software in depth? This online class is intended for the user who understands the basic functions of their board and the Notebook software and wants to feel more confident with the software. The final project will showcase skills used in a lesson for your classroom. Access to a SMART Board and Notebook software is required. Participants must have email capability and access to the Internet.  15 contact hours will be awarded upon the completion of the course.  One semester hour of graduate credit through Ashland University is available for an additional fee of $175.  Participants may work through each weekly module at their own pace, but must complete all course work by 6/29.

Teaching in a Blended Environment

$225 Advantage & Premium, $275 Basic
Blended: 9:00-12:00 on 6/8 AND 7/2 @ITSCO AND online classes (at your own pace) 6/8-7/1
Blended learning is a learning experience combining the Internet and face to face correspondence. However, course creation needs to be more than a series of links and written text placed on the shoulders of the learners to navigate. In these classes you will learn appropriate pedagogy to engage students, tools that will harness the power of the web for communication, such as Google Hangouts,  and Ustream. Also, learn organizational tools such as Diigo and Google Sites. Finally, we will explore some formative assessment strategies using Moodle, Google Forms and web based PBL tools. 15 contact hours will be awarded upon the completion of the course.  One semester hour of graduate credit through Ashland University is available for an additional fee of $175.  To receive credit, participants must attend the two classes held at ITSCO as well as participate in the online classes.
