This professional development opportunity is made possible by a grant from eTech Ohio and is open to superintendents and principals only. ITSCO is now accepting registrations for a 21st Century learning project for administrators. Participation in this grant is FREE for ITSCO members. Space is limited, so complete the online registration form to reserve you place! Utilizing ISTE standards for administrators and 21st Century Learning Skills, ITSCO and Western Reserve Educational Services (a north-east area Ohio Educational Technology Agency) are collaborating to offer professional development entitled "Technology for Administrators" that will focus on administrators’ skills in addressing educational technology efficiently and effectively. The project will allow for sustained professional development opportunities for administrators through the use of online collaborative communities of learners. Focus will be given to tools related to the 21st century learner including Wikis, Google Docs, Videoconferencing, Social Bookmarking and RSS. Face to face meetings will occur in Columbus from 8-10am and 4-6pm on Monday, April 27th, Wednesday, April 29th and Thursday, April 30th (pick one date and time to attend). The face to face session will focus on 21st century learning skills such as collaboration, communication and creativity and will include instruction delivered via video from Western Reserve Educational Services. Follow up sessions will be conducted as half hour webinars on Wednesdays through the month of May starting on May 6th at 12pm, 3pm or 4pm (pick one time for each Wednesday in May). A webinar will conclude the program on Wednesday, June 3rd. Participants can attend and participate in the webinars from their office computer. Eight participants per session will be allowed for each face-to-face session held in Columbus. Webinar sessions will be capped at no more than 50 online participants. The building blocks of this professional development opportunity incorporated data from eTech Ohio's BETA survey of technology that assessed teachers on how they perceive their administrators as leaders in educational technology. This data showed that many of Ohio's school districts, almost 50 percent of administrators, were perceived as having no more than an adequate role as educational technology leaders. All participants will receive a computer headset and a printed training/utilization guide as well as having access to a dedicated project website focusing on 21st Century Learning Skills.
