ALFY is a free educational site geared toward early elementary students, teachers, and parents. ALFY is unique in its kid-centric design. With this pictorial format, students can also find their way to thousands of exciting kid-friendly links, all hand-selected by a team of educators to ensure that they are safe, appropriate, and appealing for children. Blue Web'n

Blue Web'n is a searchable database of about 1000 outstanding Internet learning sites categorized by subject area, audience, and type (lessons, activities, projects, resources, references, & tools). Blue Web'n does not attempt to catalog all educational sites, but only the most useful sites -- especially online activities targeted at learners.

Cable In The Classroom

Cable networks, such as CNN, Discovery, A&E, and Nickelodeon, set aside a portion of their on-air schedule to air commercial-free programming on subjects as varied as science, art history, math, literature, and world events. Some of the programming is created specifically for a network's Cable in the Classroom offering (i.e. CNN's daily half hour CNN Newsroom/WorldView program), while other networks, such as A&E, often reformat documentaries or other programs from their regular schedule into "teacher-friendly" modules. All of the programs are copyright cleared so schools can build their own video libraries.

Digital Edge Learning Interchange

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Apple Computer, and AT&T have joined forces on an exciting project designed to promote accomplished teaching with technology. The Digital Edge Learning Interchange is an online library featuring National Board Certified Teachers in exhibits of exemplary teaching. Each exhibit includes an introduction, lesson plan, video clips, student work samples, assessment tools, resources, research, and teacher reflection. The lessons focus on using technology with students in a wide range of subject areas and grade levels. All exhibits include correlation to the National Board Standards and ISTE's NETS (National Educational Technology Standards), as well as to state and content area standards. These teacher-created exhibits are intended to stimulate conversation and learning in the educational community about various instructional strategies, multiple approaches to meeting standards, and ways to use technology effectively in the classroom.

ENC Online

The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC) is funded through a contract with the U. S. Department of Education to provide K-12 teachers with a central source of information on mathematics and science curriculum materials. ENC was established in 1992 at The Ohio State University and is located in Columbus, Ohio.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence

On April 18, 1997, President Clinton asked Federal agencies to determine what "resources you can make available that would enrich the Internet as a tool for teaching and learning." InfOhio

Great educational resources for educators. Usernames and passwords for home access to INFOhio's Electronic Resources have been distributed to each Ohio public and private school. Students and teachers should ask their library media specialist or technology director for a copy to take home. Many schools post this information in each library, classroom, and computer lab. There is no charge to Ohio students and teachers to use any INFOhio Electronic Resource at school or home. Educators who need up-to-date copies of their INFOhio usernames and passwords should contact their region's DASite provider. (Resource vendors change usernames and passwords from time to time.)

Ohio Resource Center
