A time
thief has threatened to steal one period of history. As The time thief
strikes, all music, all developments in art and science, and all wars of
that period mystically disappear from history. Your team must choose
a time period (musical genre) to save. You must convince the audience
that your genre is the most important to mankind.
You will research one time period from the following list.
Renaissance 1400-1600
Baroque 1600 -1750
Classical 1750-1820
Romantic 1820 - 1900
Impressionistic 1890 -1915
20th Century 1900 - Present

Decide on a musical period to defend. Gather the information described above. Take careful notes of where you found your information, pictures, music, etc. You may team with other students to organize the defense of your time period. You will present your defense with a Hyperstudio project, a play, or presentation using audiovisual aids that you have assembled during your research.
Conclusion & Reflection
How is the music that we listen to a relection of the times in which we live? How do historical events influence composers and the music that they write?
How does "your" musical genre influence you as you listen to it? How does the music convey the feelings of the musician and time period to you?
