Incorporate elements of games into your students' learning experiences without actually playing games.  In this course, we will explore the pedagogical approach of gameful learning that takes inspiration from how good games function, and applies that to the design of learning environments. Students need to be able to make meaningful choices over what they are doing, be challenged by a task but feel like they can succeed, and feel connected to those around them.   Gameful learning provides a way to foster this personalization and active learning.  A few of the gameful learning elements participants will explore include: experience points, mini-quests, leaderboards, and badging.
