Check the Member Schools section to see if your district is an Advantage or Premium member. Graduate credit is available for all of our classes for an additional fee. Cancellations received two weeks prior to the class start date are eligible for a full refund less a $25 processing fee; review the cancellation policy for more information.

INFOhio Classroom Tools

Come explore the variety of resources that INFOhio has to offer in this Free Class! In this class, participants will dive into the classroom tools located in INFOhio's core collection with research tools and beyond. Classroom applications for the PreK-12 classroom will be covered. 

 

Design Thinking with Makerspaces*

Build, play and learn using a variety of technologies to stretch your creativity and sharpen your analytical processes.  Join ITSCO in creating a makerspace for  students grades 4-10 where you can discover coding, mobile games, robotics, Minecraft, and more. In this hands on space, you’ll have the chance to experiment with different tools and gadgets that can engage students and promote higher order thinking skills. Participants will set up design challenges to engage students in their Makerspace. A Makerspace kit is included for you to keep!  The kit includes a Makerspace book, Makey Makey, Ozobot, and Keva blocks

Join us as we explore core areas of Google for Education to increase efficiency in the classroom, student learning and creativity,  and classroom integration practices.  Academies are facilitated by expert Google Certified Trainers with years of classroom experience. We will cover the 13 Fundamental Units necessary to pass the Google Level 1 Educator exam as well as some tips and tricks to add to your Google toolbox!

OneNote is such a versatile tool. It’s a website, notebook, and organizer combined into a simple to use package that is perfect for education! It can be used for note taking, brainstorming, research, searching, collaboration, collecting random bits of information — basically, everything you have ever tried to do in notepads, sticky notes, to-do lists, and maybe even white boards. You’ll find it all much easier to do with OneNote, and will be able to keep all your information in one easy-to-manage location.

Technology integration can redefine a classroom on multiple levels. This session will look at developing an engaging learning environment by creating interactive, self-directed learning experiences for students. We'll look through a unique lens at familiar tools within Google Drawing and Slides, and use them to create your own interactive lessons. You’ll also learn how to find other high-quality content and applications to enrich your curriculum.

*Class+Lab: Put what you learn into action!  Spend three hours in class learning, exploring, and practicing; then dedicate the last two hours in lab mode, planning and developing your very own classroom lesson.

Take your Google-tastic classroom classroom to the next level!  This Level 2 Academy covers topics such as: increased functionality of the core G Suite tools; alignment of Google tools with personalized learning models; and the creation of blended learning lessons.  We will also explore ways to develop professional networks; using add-ons and apps to improve the functionality of Google products, and higher level functions of Forms and Sheets to collect and organize data. Computer Science for Elementary

Code.org has developed elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. Courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” classroom activities that require no computer. Each course consists of 20 lessons. We welcome elementary school teachers to sign up for a free, high-quality professional development workshop from an experienced computer science facilitator. The workshop will provide an intro to computer science, pedagogy, overview of the online curriculum, teacher dashboard, and strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities.

Gameful Learning

Incorporate elements of games into your students' learning experiences without actually playing games.  In this course, we will explore the pedagogical approach of gameful learning that takes inspiration from how good games function, and applies that to the design of learning environments. Students need to be able to make meaningful choices over what they are doing, be challenged by a task but feel like they can succeed, and feel connected to those around them.   Gameful learning provides a way to foster this personalization and active learning.  A few of the gameful learning elements participants will explore include: experience points, mini-quests, leaderboards, and badging.
